A council built to carry the student voice into every decision
The SRC is the recognised student government of Kumasi Technical University, elected each academic year to represent, organise, and advocate for the entire student body.
Our mandate
The Council exists to make sure no student's concern goes unheard. We represent students on university boards and committees, mediate between students and management, and manage services — including hostel allocation — that keep campus life running smoothly.
Every executive member is elected by the student body and serves a one-year term, renewable once. Class representatives from each department feed concerns upward through the General Assembly.
How the council is organised
The SRC operates through an executive council and five standing committees, each chaired by a member of the executive and staffed by volunteer students.
Welfare Committee
Hostel affairs, counselling referrals, and student support.
Academic Affairs
Timetabling, examinations, and lecturer liaison.
Sports & Culture
Inter-hall competitions and cultural events.
Finance & Audit
Dues, budgeting, and financial reporting to the Assembly.
Executive council, 2026/27
Elected by the student body each March, the executive council leads the Council day to day.
Ama Owusu
Chairs the General Assembly and represents students on the University Academic Board.
Kwabena Mensah
Deputises for the President and oversees inter-committee coordination.
Nana Akosua
Keeps council records, manages correspondence, and publishes Assembly minutes.
Yaw Boateng
Manages SRC dues, budgets committee spending, and reports to the Finance Committee.
Efua Asante
Leads the Hostel Management portal and welfare referrals for all affiliated halls.
Samuel Osei
Runs SRC communications, the news page, and campus-wide announcements.

Every student's voice reaches the Council through a short, direct chain.
You raise it with your class representative
Each department elects a representative who sits in the General Assembly.
It's tabled at the General Assembly
Representatives bring concerns to the monthly Assembly for discussion and vote.
The relevant committee acts on it
Welfare, Academic Affairs, or another committee takes ownership and reports back.
The Executive escalates where needed
Unresolved matters go to university management through the President and Vice President.
